MotoGP / Jerez / Lorenzo’s “special place” / Spies’ “unfinished business”

Jorge Lorenzo
“I am ready to come back to Jerez. We started the Championship so well in Qatar and I believe it is a great moment to ride for my people and my Fan Club here in Spain. Last year the situation was quite similar and perhaps I got the best victory of my career, closing a big gap in the last few laps. We can’t make predictions for Sunday, but my crew and I will work as much as possible to be in front. Jerez is a special place for me, maybe the best track in the world. When I was only 15, the day right after my birthday, I raced for the first time in front of 100,000 people here.” Continue reading →

MotoGP / Ducati in Europe with high hopes

The Ducati Marlboro Team is preparing for battle at the Spanish Grand Prix, theseason’s first European race and one of the most characteristic and popular rounds of the entire championship, for fans and riders alike.

In addition to Troy Bayliss’ third place at Jerez in 2003, Ducati’s debut season in MotoGP, the team won at the circuit in 2006 with Loris Capirossi, while the squad’s sole Jerez podium of the 800cc era was with Casey Stoner, in 2009.

2012 Street Triple and Street Triple R

The average naked Triumph changed it’s looks. The new styling trend of the English brand affected the 2012 Street Triple and Street Triple R as well as their older sibling – the Speed Triple. They all received an “eye lifting” treatment, with the smaller Street Triple being the later one for this change. We say goodbye to headlights looking like they were coming out of the comic book, and welcome the new slanted, more aerodynamic and technologically improved ones. Small naked bike from Hinkley has been de-chromed as well, replacing chromed exhaust, rider footpegs and handlebar raisers with stainless steel. Ducati Monster 848R by Isaac Chavira

Photoshop concept sketches are the course of the day around the motorcycling world wide webs. Today we present one of the more subtle versions of a well known Ducati Monster. Stock units of the same bike are based on air cooled engines, and that’s what this concept is all about. Isaac Chivra had something else on mind. He “mounted” a water cooled engine from 848 model! And that’s not all. If you look at it closer, you will notice that there is a 1198 front end and rear shock. Continue reading →

Comment of the Week / David Mann / Doc Wells

I always get emotional when we receive comments like this. Posted by Doc Wells on EasyRiders Dave Mann – Biker Art.  Thank you Doc…

Memory lane: I was working at a bar in norhtern Malibu, Trancus Beach Rest, where I met Dave. I was into bikes, but did not own one. The day I bought my ’52 Chopped Pan, Dave and I took off on a wild ride up PCH to the Holiday Inn bar, with his wife to be Jackie trying to keep up with is Red custom and chopped ’40 Coup. I do not remember comming home, but I do remember going 90-100 mph, weaving in and out of cars on the way to the bar.
The last time I saw Dave and Jackie, I was just out of medical school and passing thru Kansas City. I took them both out to diner. Dave was not doing too well then, and passed away two years later. There never was and never will be another GentleMann like him again.

Miss Ya Dave.

MotoGP / Suzuki / John Hopkins confirmed as replacement for Bautista in Jerez

Hopkins will be back with the team that he last rode for in 2007, when he took a podium position in his final race in Rizla Suzuki colours to secure fourth place in that season’s world championship. The Californian’s inclusion in the Suzuki squad is due to the enforced absence of regular rider Álvaro Bautista, who is recovering in Spain following surgery on the broken left femur that he suffered during the first event of the season in Qatar. Hopkins has now fully recovered from a wrist injury that almost ended his career last season and is currently in the middle of pre-season testing for the British Superbike Championship with the Samsung Crescent Racing team, where he is looking to re-build his form and make a full-time return to the world stage. James Bubba Stewart arrested!?

One of the fastest Supercross riders ever, James “Bubba” Stewart, was arrested on Monday afternoon (US time) on charges of impersonated the police officer. It was clear that the whole thing was just a stupid stunt, which Bubba nonetheless paid with the trip to police station. The Yamaha rider was in his pickup, and with the flashing police lights, he stopped the vehicle in front of him. That’s when everything took a turn for the worst, as the person driving the car he stopped presented himself as a off-duty police officer. Continue reading →
