And the breaking news ladies and gentleman – Valentino Rossi started using Twitter. You know that uber-popular short-status-update network (140 characters)? For now his messages are only in Italian, but we are expecting english ones to appear. So far around 4000 people is following ValeYellow46, but when the news go around the interwebs for couple of times – the numbers will surely skyrocket.

So what is essentially happening here? The industry is changing, we are inside the informational era and rules of the game are different from before. Today in modern sports it’s not all about how good you perform, but how many Twitter followers you have, Facebook Page Likes and what not. If you have the numbers – then you have the power to sell yourself as a brand. The more people you sell it to, the more money for the sponsors…the better bike and team you’re in. That’s why Vale opened Twitter account…and that’s what Andrea Dovizioso’s missing…
