Meet the Hide Motorcycle Mod 3 Chopper, one of the most beautiful custom H-D choppers in the world (at least to us in BCB). Built back in 2007 for a well-off Italian H-D dealer, Mod 3 pushed the boundaries of minimal contemporary design and neo-vintage looks. It won the “BEST OF SHOW MOTORCYCLE” award at the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show in 2007, and it still represents a contemporary work of motorcycling art. So where do you begin with a build like this?
Let’s start by saying that most of the parts were aluminum hand made by Hideya Togashi himself. Almost all of them are one-off’s as well. 5-spoke 21-inch custom wheels were welded together not CNC’d, oil reservoars and copper lines are hidden in the rigid frame, tank is aluminum custom one-off, while all the wires and electrics are hidden inside the frame as well. The front fork is Honda CRM unit with the set of hard springs. There are no leavers on the handlebars. To brake you would need to twist the left grip forward – engaging the master brake cylinder that brakes both wheels at the same time. And just check the rear sprocket/brake setup. LED lights were neatly integrated into the frame and the rear fender. The engine: 1985 Harley Evolution mated with a 4-speed transmission. End of story.
An absolute work of art. Write it down: Hide Motorcycles
