Check out the new 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Race Edition, prepared for the 90th running of the popular international hill climb race in Colorado, USA. Carlin Dunne, last years rookie and a champion, is teaming with Greg Tracy once again, in a pursuit of the new title for Ducati Spider Grips Team. As far as the performance – the 2012 Multistrada race bike can be best described as “fairly” stock. Upgraded radial master cylinder and brakes are coming from MotoGP directly while the mono block calipers have been taken of the 1198 Superbike.

A massive altitude change at Pikes Peak track creates a unique problem with all the racing machines – oxygen depravation at the top of the mountain (14 100 feet compared to 9 300 feet start altitude). Both Ducati’s are equipped with a full-band auto-tuning ECU system to cope with this problem. Special Akrapovic exhaust, produced in only 50 copies, will be used as well (6 for the team, 20 for US, and the rest worldwide). We believe they will win again this year…
