The Black Douglas Motorcycle Co. / Sterling 2012

This is something nice for a change. A very young Italian manufacturer – The Black Douglas Motorcycle Co. – released a vintage looking old-school motorcycle called the Sterling 2012. Although the whole concept is built around the moto designs from 1920′s and 30′s – it uses the modern technology to make it suitable by todays standards. The frame is vintage in design but it’s much stiffer thanks to the modern manufacturing process, and so is the Trapezoid front fork.

The Sterling 2012 is powered by a 200cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine developing 17hp and is Euro3 compliant. It weights around 100kg, which makes it very easy to move in urban environment while 10L tank combined with a scooter-like consumption will give the rider a decent autonomy as well. All of the models are hand-built, with an option to make them more personal choosing the parts from a large catalogue selection.

The 125cc version and electric version are in the pipeline as well, which is a plus. The price for 200cc model is 9,900 €. Go to the official web page and order today.

  1. Beautifully built and prepared machines, all of which I’d love to own. However, I think maybe the relatively high price may be enough to dissuade a lot of potential buyers.
