German journalists from “Motorrad Online” had the unique opportunity to test ride the latest KTM Adventure R 1190 prototype! According to the test rider Michael Pfeiffer, the new “orange adventurer” will use the RC8R engine (1190cc, around 150hp at 10,000rpm) and will weigh around 230kg. The 24-litre gas tank ensures great autonomy, while traction control, off-road / on-road engine maps and ABS keep the KTM right up there with the competition.
The seat height will be around 840mm and it’s assumed that the 2014 KTM will be featuring a 1290cc mill in order to keep up with the likes of the liquid-cooled BMW R1200GS and Ducati Multistrada 1200.
