Ducati Flash Back Endurance Version / Mr.Martini

Style “can’t” be bought…yet in this case “can”

Sometime ago we were “introduced” to one of the most radically customized Ducati 1098′s – the “Flash Back” – done by, who else than the master itself – Mr. Martini. Now, there’s the sequel – the Endurance version that we see here today. Like with most brilliant designs, we need a brief period to adjust and receive the radical change with an open mind (and heart). Only at that moment we can start to really appreciate the absolute art-piece of the motorcycle done by this famous Italian designer. Continue reading →

Cafe Racer Dream / CRD No.1 / Honda CB900 Bold’Or

We are following progress of the Spanish Cafe Racer Dream custom garage with great passion, as Mr. Pedro Garcia is creating some of the most beautiful custom motorcycles in the Europe. From the initial few, the total number of finished projects is climbing to a nice number of 14. Unlike many others, CRD bikes are very subtle, and sometimes it’s hard to notice the changes until you compare it to the original. The CRD No.1 is one such bike, and it is absolutely stunning. Based on the legendary Honda 1980′s CB900 Bol d’Or, it has been transformed into a vintage looking cafe racer. The new name: Bold’Or! Continue reading →

Motorcycle and Bicycle-Inspired Table Lamps / Maurizio Lamponi Leopardi

Sometimes, the best designs are sitting in front of our eyes all the time, we just don’t see them clearly until we change our perspective. Take the Vespa for example – back in the day, they were a small aircraft parts manufacturer, and the wheels of the world’s most famous scooter were, in fact, the rear wheels of an aircraft and the engine was the two-stroke unit used to start those big aircraft engines! When you look at Maurizio Lamponi Leopardi’s lamps, you can’t help but think it’s that the same design idea happening again. Continue reading →

“Lead Sled” Rat Rod Custom by AfterHours Bikes

Check out this sick custom ratrod – the “Lead Sled” – by AfterHours Bikes. Thanks to air suspension front and back, the bike sits so low to the ground that it doesn’t need a kickstand. The mix of the real patina and the custom-painted one goes well with the baby blue powder-coated wheels and pinstripes on the custom body panels. The treatment of the seat is a radical one, but even that mixes awesome-ly nice with the overall stance of this custom piece of art. Continue reading →

“What if” of the Month / Mercedes F-CELL Roadster Concept

Mercedes left us with another “what if”…on bicycle wheels…

This is the Mercedes-Benz’s F-CELL Roadster Concept that never happened, a retro-future vehicle combining the elements from the first cars ever (like the wheels that even Henry Ford’s T-Model had) with the latest technologies like fuel cell. Built in a way to represent a modern reenactment of the legendary Benz Patent Motowagen, F-CELL was powered by a 1.2kW (1.6hp) rear mounted fuel cell engine, with a range of 350km and a top speed of 25km/h. WTF of the Day / V8 “What-the-heck” with a Sidecar

We’ve seen some crazy @hit…

…but this is by far one of the craziest contraption ever created! Not only that it’s powered by a monstrous V8 straight from the American car (or a van) putting the inventor/rider straight into “Death Wish III” group, but the very same person attached a sidecar as well. And then – when you think it’s all over – the suicide vehicle received a coat of purple and yellow. Now, just to stay in touch with tarmac (and reality) the ideas-man attached a F1 wing in the back…Absolutely brilliant! Looney….

Rider and Motorcycle / Heart and Soul

One of the rare telly promos that truly captures the spirit of racing, especially the moment when rider and machine become one living organism. Directed by Taro Russel, this short movie combines 3D graphics with some intense moments from the 2011 MotoGP and WSBK seasons. What a great idea and realization for the promotion of these tough Moto Racing Championships! Continue reading →

Custom Scorch Laverda 1000cc

This is one crazy looking bike, with a bizzare bright orange custom frame built by Scorch. And just for a sake of “not to keep it all that simple”, the choice of the engine is quite an awkward one as well – the big 1000cc Laverda inline-3. And then you look at the front end and you ask yourself – is that an telescopic fork? Your eyes glance over the custom single sided swingarm-art and you look at it closely – is it on the wrong side??? Continue reading →
