In an Art Gallery in Ipswich, Australia, there is one unusual sculpture hanging from the ceiling, called the “Big Bang”. If you look at it closer (and you’re motorcycling “nerd”) you’ll notice that it is in fact the legendary Honda NSR500 ridden by Mick Doohan – blown to million pieces….or 300 to be exact
. The artist – Eamon O’Toole – wanted to express his emotions, but we’re not sure whether they were “love” or “hate” towards motorcycles…it must be love Continue reading →

The Bomb Runner by Rough Crafts

The Rough Crafts got it right the first time round, creating an instant classic, the cult bike – their “Iron Guerilla” based on 2009 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883. It was such a huge success (and it still is) that they went even further creating a sequel. Meet the custom Harley-Davidson 1200 – the “Bomb Runner”. Built in 2011, dark and sinister, this bike features custom front wheel and tripple trees, custom tails section and custom exhaust. For that super-agressive stance the forks were lowered additionally, while the rear shocks were raised a bit. The tank was repositioned and the whole bike was tastefully darked-out. Albert “The Chief” Hurt’s Kawasaki KZ1000 cafe Racer

Albert “The Chief” Hurt is a retired Coast Guard officer who lives in Spokane, USA. He’s also a bike builder and a mastermind behind this sick looking Kawasaki KZ1000 cafe Racer. Using the 1992 Kawasaki KZ1000 Police Special as the starting point, Albert changed pretty much everything aside from the frame and the engine. The fork and the swing arm are sourced from the 1995 Suzuki RF900R, the stock brakes are changed to twin-disc Nilsin’s, while the exhaust is custom fabricated. The rear sets are off of a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600, and with the little welding – they fitted in nicely. Continue reading →

El Guapo 1975 Honda Goldwing by Paul Dutra

What a perfect name* for a near perfect rat bike…if there’s such a thing after all. Started as a 1975 Honda Goldwing, the legendary JDM cruiser with an unheard 1000cc boxer flat 4 engine, this little bike went in “reverse”. It wasn’t built to his final shape, the term that better describes the creative process is that it was un-built. On the stock Goldwing the tank isn’t really a tank, it’s a fake tank holding an airbox and a glove box. Paul Dutra ditched it in favor of the real tank, leaving a gapping hole in the rear subframe where the real tank was. Continue reading →

2012 One Motorcycle Show / See See Motorcycles and Bell

The custom motorcycle show doesn’t always have to display absolutely perfect bikes – the ones that were built for long periods of time with silly amount of work and attention to the details…the paint doesn’t have to have 6 clear coats and the chrome doesn’t have to be polished just 10min ago. The “One Motorcycle Show” held in Portland, Oregon, is about different type of custom motorcycles – the one we cut and grind and paint in order to become the extension of our personality…and then for us to ride them. KaffeMaschine No.5 / 1989 Moto Guzzi Le Mans custom

We “kinda” got used to the German custom shop KaffeeMaschine and their beautiful Moto Guzzi Cafe Racers, but somehow this last one got us by surprise. Finished in perfect chrome – blue combination, this tricked out ’89 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 4 has some staggering features and insane levels of detail. Going down from the original weight of 240kg, Axel Budde managed to shave of 57kg of excess material, and to create one of the most composed cafe racers in the long while. The engine comes from the Le Mans 1000 spec’s machine with 950cc and 82hp. Continue reading →
