Kruz Customs describe themselves as ‘new to the scene’ builders from Belgium who take their inspiration from first-gen dirt track racers from the Seventies. They picked up this 1980 Yamaha XS400 Custom at the French border in a very sorry state and went about fixing it up before the project could get up and running. The custom rear seat was made at Niyona’s workshop and mounts neatly onto the custom rear loop. The coils were tucked away under the CB125-sourced tank. Other bits include SBK-spec Brembos up front, Brembo PR15 RCS clutch, custom headlight and fenders, Renthal custom handlebars with a classy Mini speedo, exhaust wrapped with stainless steel stitching and custom wiring. Frenchman Jean-Louis Schlesser, Spaniard Marc Coma and Pole Rafal Sonik claimed outright victories in their respective car, motorcycle and quad categories of the four-day 2013 Sealine Cross-Country Rally, which finished in southern Qatar on Friday.
The trio held on to their overnight advantages in very different circumstances to clinch the wins after a punishing all-desert route of over 1,500km had tested both man and machine to the limit. Yamaha’s latest generation, fuel-injected WR450F enduro bike has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award for 2013. This is the second year running that Yamaha has scooped this prestigious award, with the TMAX having won it in 2012.
