“We’re at it again!” says Jeff Holt of Street Chopper. Dubbed “Sporty Swapout”, the idea was to take an unmolested Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 1200 and give it a completely new look, with everyone getting to watch the build on their forums (www.forums.streetchopperweb.com). Gone are the windshield, chrome lower chainguard, bag and all other unwanted stuff in quest for a more macho appearance, and Street Chopper enlisted the help of the gurus at Ride Wright Wheels, LePera Seats, Custom Cycle Controls, Hawg Haulters, Hippy Killer Garage, Jireh Cycles and a few more. It’s always nice to see someone building their own custom bike. Here’s one such dude, Z-king from the Custom Fighters forum, who started out with a bone-stock 2003 Kawasaki Z1000.
Phase 1 saw him ditching the dirty bars and building a custom exhaust, followed by the addition of a K&N filter, integrated taillight and some blacked-out panels. After rocking it like that for a while, he soon grew tired of the red and black paint scheme, which was duly replaced by Alpine white with several layers of blue and red metal flakes.
