BMW to sell Husqvarna to KTM boss

Apparently, BMW Motorrad has undergone a strategic realignment to focus on urban mobility and e-mobility. As part of this process, the company has decided to sell Husqvarna Motorcycles to Pierer Industrie AG which is owned by KTM CEO Stefan Pierer.

Both companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price and the sale is subject to approval by anti-trust authorities. That being said, the deal is expected to go through but it remains unclear if Pierer will incorporate Husqvarna into KTM or keep it as a separate entity. Continue reading →

Racing / Third win for Joan Barreda / Pharaons Rally

Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain notched up a third stage victory on the fourth day of the Pharaons rally. The Spanish rider proved himself to be both fast at racing and deft at navigation on the TE449RR by Speedbrain, dominating the stage throughout the entire 530 km of special test. 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross

The original 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross, 2-stroke monster, the same model that legendary Steve McQueen rode for the famous cover shot of the Sports Illustrated magazine. 2012 Husqvarna Baja Concept


We are not sure what to think of Husqvarna at the moment. As the BMW subsidiary, Husky brand is trying to cover the market where there’s no BMW models. This approach led them to the release one of the most un-inspiring new motorcycles in 2011 – the Nuda 900. Clumsy and big, without any real “features” to get a hold of, it carried one important question: who will buy it? 2012 Husqvarna Strada / Duke is getting competition


It looks like BMW wants to squeeze every last drop from their subsidiary Husqvarna. The latest concept is called Strada and it represents a semi-off-road single cylinder machine with direct design influences from the bigger 900cc Nuda presented some time ago. The engine is coming from BMW’s 650cc single-cylinder found in the G650GS, but apparently tuned by Italians for some extra punch. The bike will likely weigh below 170kg dry (nothing to write home about) and will hit the same market dominated by KTM and the Duke. Continue reading →

Concept E-go by BMW……sorry, Husqvarna


Now this is a cool concept, something that we would love to ride, period. The new Husqvarna Concept E-go (or should we say an MotoX part of BMW), extremely light, attractive and fun. With only 80kg this featherweight bike will make commuting a breeze, while everyone will stare at your unorthodox designed bike. Easily noticeable is the single sided double leg front suspension and single side swing arm in the back. Battery support is aluminum, frame is steel and the seat is self-supporting.
