Kawasaki to debut new Z1000 at 2013 EICMA show


Kawasaki has confirmed it will introduce a new Z1000 on November 5 during the 2013 EICMA show in Milan. Prominently featured in the teaser artwork is the Japanese character “Sugomi” which describes the sense of awe and terror given off from a person or object of greatness, such as a menacing panther stalking its prey that Kawasaki has also been using in the Z1000′s teaser campaign. Custom / Kawasaki 250TR / Motor Garage Goods


If you’re a motorcycle geek, you’ll know that the Kawasaki 250TR is a street legal dual-purpose bike sold in Japan and other Eastern markets. The 249cc air-cooled bike was stripped down by Motor Garage Goods to the frame, which has been modified at the rear to adapt the new seat. The engine is stock except for a wrapped pipe and trumpet style muffler, while the stock tank gets ditched in favour of a banana fuel tank painted in blue with gold stripes and classic Kawasaki emblems. The rear features a bespoke round-bob rear fender and a G-suspension. The front receives a vintage bar fitted with Amal 364 type throttle holder and Jack Hummer grip, with the retro headlight coming from Bates and the tyres from Firestone. Continue reading →

Shinya Kimura / Motorcycle Mechanic


“In his own words, Shinya Kimura is a motorcycle mechanic. To the rest of the world, Shinya is an artist, building kinetic sculptures that are and very labor intensive, one-of-a-kind, and ultimately utilitarian. Raised in Tokyo, he moved to LA about a decade ago to actually escape his growing fame and to quietly go on with his life as a mechanic. Acclaim has annoyingly still followed him. His bikes are tough, perfectly made machines that are thrilling to ride. In this film, Danielle explores briefly why motorcycles and what makes the work compelling for Shinya, and the feeling he gets while riding. The film is a supplement to the third issue of On Paper Magazine.”

Mystery Suzuki GS1200…or GSX1100…or GS1000…or…


This bike has been making circles around the interweb for a good number of years, but it always seems like nobody knows the details, and they were never published. What we know so far is that the engine is from the GSX1100 (looks like it, but the Suzuki experts need to approve this), the gas tank is GS1000 (maybe) and the swing arm is ???. The frame look like a Spondon unit, and the front fork is Ohlins (see the small blue sticker on the lower part). The brake calipers look like Yamaha stuff…but what is it exactly???
