There are few things more Bond-villainy than a properly intimidating chair, and this one has all the hallmarks of a classic. Made from an original Martin-Baker ejector seat, it was hand-built by the talented team at Hangar 54. They used an original WWII fighter pilot’s jacket for the upholstery and created a solid base from an exhaust manifold. After the Ducati Team press conference at the Audi Forum, Munich Airport, the new Desmosedici GP14’s livery was unveiled to international media and Audi Group management in an event. The sporting activities and product innovations of the Audi Group were presented in a spectacular environment at the Audi Zentrum in Eching (Munich). Two Desmosedici GP14 machines, in an exciting new matte colour scheme, entered the stage ridden by Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow, in front of over 300 international media, invited to Munich and then to Ingolstadt by Audi for the Annual Press Conference.
The brand new Ducati Diavel made its first public appearance at a special preview presentation in Geneva, during the Volkswagen Group Night. On the eve of the 84th edition of the International Motor Show of Geneva, Claudio Domenicali (CEO of Ducati Motor Holding) personally unveiled the new model on stage during the important evening, providing a stunning preview of the latest machine to join the Ducati range during 2014. Harley-Davidson Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has announced the opening of a brand new showroom for its iconic motorcycles in Fujairah, UAE, under the auspices of Khalifa Al Masood the owner of the local dealership Abdulla Al Masaood & Sons Motorcycles LLC. The two day opening ceremony, held on the 27th and 28th of February 2014, saw VIPs and members of the media attend on the first day, with motorcycle aficionados and Harley-Davidson fans flocking in the day after. Live bands entertained attendees at the grand opening, which drew 150 bikes and 200 attendees over two days. There were activities for children, and a showcase of some of Harley-Davidson’s best selling motorcycles. A celebratory cake was cut and a commemorative plaque put up. The new showroom is located near KM Trading in Moh’d Bin Mattar Road, Fujairah. Abdulla Al Masaood & Sons Motorcycles LLC, operating under the umbrella of Al Masaood Group, is Harley-Davidson’s third fully value added dealership in the UAE.
The Beach Canteen project, part of the Dubai Food Festival, saw some of the city’s best-known restaurants serving everything from sushi to tacos for 10 days. Bikers Cafe was there at the opening on Wednesday 26th February at Kite Beach, along with sister outlet Loca. During the early hours, prior to the media event at 5PM, we were running a bit late, but successfully managed to bring it all together and complete the set-up with a new vespa 946 arriving on time for the show. Esteemed members of the media started arriving early, and the event was soon packed with numerous restaurants offering food tasting opportunities to those present. It was a great event for Bikers Cafe as we had the opportunity to meet and interact with a large number of people, highlighted by a free foozball table, table tennis games and a host of other fun activities. There are unique bikes. And there are ‘unique’ bikes. A unique bike will catch your eye in the street. The latter you won’t come across at any show, they are generally relegated to the confines of the computer screen or magazine cover. Today’s feature bike falls into the latter category. Definitely unique, this is a one off aerodynamic-as-hell racer with an Italian heart. And it looks as good as it did when it rolled out of the workshop 34 years ago. Continue reading →
2014 Team Pedercini Racing Kawasaki was officially presented today at Nicolis Museum in Villafranca, Verona, Italy. The Italian squad – that is embarking in its 17th consecutive WSBK season – will field two EVO-spec ZX-10R for Alessandro Andreozzi and returning Luca Scassa. Andreozzi steps up to World Superbike after an encouraging year in FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, in which he built speed upon speed as the season progressed.
