Video / Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja vs. Alfa MiTo

Have you seen Alfa Romeo’s Quadrifoglio Verde SBK, a limited edition MiTo that’s the result of a multi-year collaboration with the FIM World Superbike Championship? To mark the model’s arrival in the UK, Alfa coordinated a world-first driving dare involving precision driver Paul Swift and British Superbike rider Chris ‘The Stalker’ Walker. Four wheels met two at Silverstone circuit in a challenging manoeuvre with Chris on a Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja ‘undertaking’ Paul in the Alfa MiTo SBK with the car up on two wheels. As Paul took the Alfa MiTo SBK around the sweeping Brooklands corner, Chris throttled in on the inside line, building up enough speed to get the bike over and, for a brief moment, go under the chassis of the Alfa MiTo SBK before speeding out the other side to safety.

The cancelling of the Argentinian round of MotoGP has had a knock-on effect for the World Superbike Series as well. The dropping of the race in Argentina caused MotoGP to push its season opener at Qatar back a week to April 7th, which then put it on the same weekend as the World Superbike round scheduled for Aragon on the same date. To avoid a clash of the two series, the FIM has chosen to move the date of the Aragon WSBK round, moving it back a week in turn to April 14th, filling the gap between the MotoGP rounds at Qatar and Austin. Pierobon X60R / Italian Job

Pierobon_x60r

Last year, our Christmas was ruined with the sighting of the Pierobon X60R sport bike. A small Italian company based in Bologna, for those who aren’t in the know, Pierobon has ties to some big projects in MotoGP and WSBK.

Known for their trellis chassis designs, the Pierobon X60R is the company’s two-wheeled flagship (be sure to checkout the Pierobon F042 street bike). We lusted after the X60R last year, you wanted one under your Christmas tree, and we all had to learn how to live our lives with disappointment afterwards. Continue reading →

Official Launch / 2013MY Aprilia RSV4 Factory ABS

With the 70th edition of EICMA, the International Motorcycle Show, just around the corner, Aprilia will be making a grand entrance with the 2013MY RSV4 Factory ABS.

Since it appeared on the road and track a few years ago, it was clear that the new Aprilia was the bike to beat. Unmatched for its rigorous design and applied technology, the RSV4 was born around a 65° V4 engine never before seen on a factory sport bike, a frame which was heir to a dynasty which had won 18 world titles and 143 Grand Prix in 250 GP and the most advanced applied electronics systems for managing the engine and the bike’s dynamics. This last item is a genuine vocation of Aprilia, the first manufacturer in the world to adopt the Ride By Wire system as standard equipment, the multimap system for power output, and above all, the first to patent the APRC dynamic controls platform.
