Ducati Diavel vs. Yamaha V-Max / Drag Race

Drag racing is pretty pointless when it comes to motorcycles, yet a lot of people and sometimes even factories are using it all the time as their bragging right. Remember the ZX-14 vs. Hayabusa? Or ZX-10R vs. S1000RR??? Although we dislike the fact that someone “smoked” someone else on the strip, we thoroughly enjoyed the Super Wheels’ video where they put the Ducati’s “mental” Diavel against Yamaha’s “insane” VMax. You probably ask why? Because even if the feat alone opened a whole-new-can-of-worms for endless internet debates, they weren’t trying to prove any points here – they just had as much as fun possible with two amazing bikes, a tree light and a piece of deserted runway. Simply brilliant….but who won?!? Continue reading →

BLITZ Mmotorcycle / Short Movie by SAYWHO?

We at Bikers Cafe firmly believe that if you do something with passion – you can not fail. Take a look at the magnificent Independent Custom Garage of Blitz Motorcycles run by Fred Jourden and Hugo Jezegabel. Founded in 2010, this Paris crew creates unique, custom and hand finished one-of-a-kind machines. They love all the bikes, specially the older models, so you can always see a variety of projects based on Yamaha SR’s, Royal Enfield’s, Kawasaki’s and BMW R’s – all honored in the way that they were build, and all of them telling an interesting story. What Stephane Peterhansel, R1 and Moroccan dunes have in common!?

The editorial director of the French motorcycling magazine “Integral” – Alain Lecorre came to the brilliant idea: to ask the six times Paris-Dakar motorcycle Champion Stephane Peterhansel to go for a quick spin on the 50th Anniversary Yamaha R1…in Moroccan dunes! You guessed it right – Stephane said yes! (who wouldn’t). With a what looks to be a heavy rain tire and a new set of handlebars Peterhansel was back in the zone, sliding and jumping the fierce road machine. Continue reading →

2012 Yamaha YZR-M1 / “The Bike” to challenge Honda’s this season

Meet the 2012 Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP prototype bike, the very same that Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies will race in this Moto Grand Prix season. Again not on the fastest bike on the grid, but certainly one with the best balanced overall – Jorge and Ben will try and stop the dominance of Honda factory machines. Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow will be happy as well as they race almost same bikes in satellite team of Tech 3 Yamaha. Comments by Jorge and Ben with full picture gallery after the jump. Rnickey Mouse / Yamaha R1 Elbow Drag

Every now and then, we come across an interesting video posted by rnickeymouse, the guy who’s religiously covering the motorcycle scene on the famous Hollywood Mulholland Road, LA, USA. Most of the time, rnickeymouse shows videos of squids* crashing their bikes in the most bizzare ways, but that isn’t to say he doesn’t show some skilled riders as well. Check out this guy elbow-dragging his crossplane Yamaha R1 on one of the most difficult turns on Mulholland – we’re talking serious skills here!

*Squid
A motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities and boasts of his riding skills when, in reality, he has none. Continue reading →

Yamaha YZF 1000 R1 vs Porsche GT3 RS….on ice!

..that’s a knee-drag in the snow, my son…

Someone finally figured out what to do with all that snow that covered most of Europe recently – take a Yamaha R1 and Porsche GT3 for a spin on a custom-made Castellet replica snow track. Logical move, right? French website Moto Journal wanted to demonstrate what’s possible with a couple of studded tires and balls the size of Uranus! 258km/h on a frozen track, and some silly knee dragging followed by some crazy Porsche drifting. It’s all good. Continue reading →

Lorenzo passes the A2 bike exam!

It’s hard to believe that 2010 MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo just passed the exam for his A2 driving license, meaning that he can legally ride bikes with a power rating of up to…wait for this…47hp! Admitting that he was a bit nervous ahead of the exam, as he’s not used to being tested (only to test), Jorge confessed that he felt vulnerable amongst the cars and trucks, and on the streets with signs! His preferred weapon of choice for the streets of Barcelona? A Yamaha T-Max.

Yamaha Vmax by Abnormal Cycles

Italian custom workshop Abnormal Cycles joined the likes of Roland Sands, Marcus Walz and Ludovic Lazareth and created 4th Yamaha Vmax Hyper. The approach was a litte bit different than the previous 3, with a “neo-retro” purification of the overall looks while the engine remained stock. The only performance part installed was the 4-in-2 ZARD exhaust – and that’s about it. F.G.R supplied the foot pegs, yokes and the engine housing, and the alloy wheels were changed for the spoked JoNich units. Continue reading →
