New Harley-Davidson Street Bob Special Edition

fxdba-8

The new Street Bob Special Edition is a rare beast: a pure bobber, pushed further. Inspired by Harley-Davidson’s Factory Customization programme, this strictly limited edition motorcycle is only available in select markets, including those in the European, Middle East and African regions.

Restyled for 2013, the Street Bob is a stripped-down and rowdy bobber based on the Dyna platform that appeals to riders who appreciate the pure essence of motorcycling; a powerful V-Twin engine at the heart of a bike with simple eye-catching styling that carries only the most essential equipment. Movie / On Any Sunday / 1971

Oh yea!

Oh yea!

In a similar vein to that of TT: Closer to the Edge, “On Any Sunday” is an Oscar-nominated documentary by Bruce Brown that looks at why motorcycle racers and enthusiasts risk their lives.

Featuring the legendary Steve McQueen, On Any Day may be more than 40 years old, but this is one fascinating look at motorbiking that’s still relevant. Just don’t blame us if you go out and buy a motocross bike after you watch it! Check it out on IMDB.

The Last Great Race on Earth / 1979 Iditarod

One of the most difficult races ever devised by the mind of man, the Iditarod is a brutal long-distance winter race that takes place in Alaska between Anchorage and Nome. The annual long-distance sled dog race runs in early March. Mushers and a team of 16 dogs, of which at least 6 must be on the towline at the finish line, cover the distance in 9–15 days or more. The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams but evolved into today’s highly competitive race. The current fastest winning time record was set in 2011 by John Baker with a time of 8 days, 19 hours, 46 minutes, and 39 seconds. Continue reading →

Yamaha XS360 / The Hookie

1

Yamaha’s XS360 never sold in huge numbers, admittedly outshone by its slighty bigger sibling, the XS400. Interestingly, both bikes featured an almost identical parallel-twin, air-cooled mill with a crank off-set of 180 degrees, as well as the same 6-speed transmission and frame.

This neat XS360 is by German custom shop, The Hookie, who have retained the most characteristic aspects of the bike while adding a little bit of their own flavour. The original handlebars have been ditched in favour of a pair of classic clip-ons, while a custom all-in-one seat/rear cowling comes in place of the stock seat. Other bits include a custom exhaust, cleaned up mid-frame section, knobbly rubber and deleted fenders. Scroll down for more images. Continue reading →

2013 Brammo Empulse RR ‘Big Game’ and ‘Sauvetage’

Sauvetage-Brammo-Empluse-RR-Icon

It’s a known fact that electric motorcycles do not pleasure you with the exquisite noises made by their petrol-powered counterparts, but they do offer you crazy torque, low maintenance and erm, a rather interesting engine note. While the biggest issue faced by electric vehicles today is the current limitations on battery power, it seems quite irrelevant when when you start talking about racing, where you just have to do a set number of laps on a fixed length circuit.

This is where electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo comes in, their latest racing bike, the 2013 Brammo Empulse RR and it’s set to take to the track for the new racing series organised by FIM and TTXGP. The bikes will be run during the 2013 season, and Icon is the primary sponsor of the Brammo team, designing everything from helmets, racing suits, pit-crew suits, motorcycle decals to racing gloves and boots. Scram R100 4Two by Fuel Motorcycles / Barcelona

SCRAMFER4
If you know your customs, you know Fuel Motorcycles from Barcelona. This is their latest Scram BMW R100 called 4Two. Custom seat by Xtrim offers enough space for two, hence the name.
